This event, full of charm and elegance, has become a must, and is included in the calendar of the French Association of Traditional Yachts.

Aloïse Retornaz godmother of the Dames de Saint-Tropez 2023 !

A highly anticipated event for all female sailors, Les Dames de Saint-Tropez will once again be on deck for the 10th edition ofème edition of this charming and feminine event! This year, in the wake of the America’s Cup 2024 with the French team, Team Orient Express Team, whose challenger club is the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, Aloïse Retornaz, Olympic medallist and female figure of the French SAIL GP team and currently in the process of being selected for the Women’s America’s Cup, will be the godmother of the Ladies of Saint-Tropez!

Aloïse : “I am very happy to have been invited by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez to participate and sponsor the 10th edition of the Dames de Saint-Tropez, this unique event where women take the helm of the most beautiful traditional sailing boats in the Mediterranean.

Sailing a boat like Hermitage, a two-masted wooden boat built in 1965, takes me out of my comfort zone. It’s a great privilege that I’m going to enjoy and I’m also particularly proud to wear the colours of the club supporting the French teams in the 37th America’s Cup. As the selections for the Women’s America’s Cup are about to begin, I see this as a good omen! 🙂

Moreover, for me, who comes from the Olympic world and who practices flying boats, the Ladies of Saint-Tropez will allow me to meet and discover other women who are passionate about sailing and the sea, with other experiences. This richness and diversity pleases me a lot.

I can’t wait to be there! See you on 29 and 30 April !”

A sold-out event

As every year for the past 11 years, the formula remains a winner: traditional yachts, female crews, a touch of originality, regularity on the water, and also a little bit of madness on land!

This year, one out of two boats has a 100% female crew! Statistics that keep increasing year after year!

The event, by invitation and limited to twenty units, was soon sold out!

On the playground offered by the Gulf of Saint-Tropez for this invitation-only regatta, we will find some regulars such as: MARIA GIOVANNA, with 9 participations in the Saint-Tropez Ladies’ Regatta, a record! Just behind with 8 participations we find NAGAINA and RATAFIA without forgetting the 100% feminine crew of EVA with multiple victories which will participate in the event for the 5th time nor the magnificent 15mJI TUIGA of the Yacht Club of Monaco whose it will be the second participation…

But, as every year, new competitors enter the very private circle of the Ladies of Saint-Tropez. This is the case for ARGYNNE III, BELLE AVENTURE, EILLEN, EUGENIA V, NIN and RUT to whom we welcome!

The fleet is gathered at the quay in the old port of Saint-Tropez.

On land, the festive programme concocted by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez leaves unforgettable memories and images every year.

Biography Aloise Retornaz :

Born in Brest on 3 February 1994 – Member of the Sport Nautique Sablais – IT project management engineer – French Olympic sailing team

It was at the age of 7 that Aloïse climbed on an Optimist for the first time, in the cold and humidity of Brest harbour.

She persevered and when she started competing, the virus took hold. At the age of 12, she joined the college as a student athlete, started the 420, then moved on to the 470.

In 2018, she teamed up with Camille Lecointre to share the Olympic adventure until Tokyo, where they were runners-up in the French championship. They followed this up in 2019 with a victory in the Enoshima test event on the Games’ water surface. Their objective is clear: a medal in Tokyo 2020.

Aloïse came back from her first Olympic Games with the Bronze medal! After the games, she joins the SailGP team and sails with the French team on the F50, foiling catamarans, a real formula 1 of the seas.
