For almost 40 years, every year in Saint-Tropez, during the last week of September and the first weekend of October, the most beautiful hulls and rigs in the world, both classic and modern, meet in the Var town. In 1999, the “Voiles de Saint-Tropez” regatta succeeded the mythical Nioulargue, created in 1981. One day in September 1981, two boats, “Pride” and “Ikra” challenged each other for the simple pleasure of it. The following year, other boat friends were invited to participate in the event. Patrice de Colmont will make the event grow in a spirit of camaraderie that will make the famous “Nioulargue” unique.
Renamed “Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez” in 1999, the spirit of yesteryear has been preserved. This event, unique in the world, is a must at the end of the season. It brings together the most beautiful traditional yachts and the latest technology. For the past forty years, the most beautiful classic and modern yachts have come together on the same stretch of water in a unique atmosphere. More than 250 boats and their 4,000 crew members, of all nationalities, take part in the regattas. Passionate amateurs, regatta sailors and professional skippers meet around the values of sailing and this shared passion. The owners are often on board their boats. The spirit of the “Voiles” is that of the highest level of sportsmanship, in a very friendly atmosphere. Participants and spectators alike are looking to experience unforgettable moments and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and the mildness of the end of the season.
